Community
Information Centre (CIC)
CIC is one of the major activities of NIC in Manipur. NIC is the implementing agency of CIC and takes active role in implementing project by organizing its available resources of manpower and equipment. Thus two CICs i.e (1) CIC Keirao Bitra and (2) CIC Sawombung were commissioned in the year 2001 as pilot projects in
Manipur. In the beginning of the financial year 2002-03, 31 more CIC were sanctioned for Manipur by the
DIT, Govt of India which was to be commissioned on 15th August, 2002, in a very short time.
Manipur was the 1st State in N.E where all the 31 CICs were commissioned on the day of Inauguration i.e 17th August, 2002 at Guwahati at such a short period of time.NIC Manipur extended full support to the State Government of Manipur during the site preparation work as well as recruitment of the operators which was given to the State Govt as a part of the CIC project component. Most of the operators , especially recruited for hill districts were untrained and they needed rigorous training to handle the day today works of
CICs. NIC trained all the operators , with special care that all the untrained operators can handle day to day work of CIC in the block. It is a wonderful that all the operators so trained are running the CICs without any problem till today.
NIC Manipur is looking after the maintenance and operation of 33 numbers of CICs in Manipur for the smooth operation .It has been organizing trainings and workshops to the common people enabling them to access to access to CIC and what can be done at
CIC. NIC monitors daily situation of all the CICs by way of getting e-mails or by chatting. If necessary, DIO visits to the CIC to sort out major issues whenever required.
